  • New components such as btree.library, diffview.gadget, diskio.library and z.library.
  • Unified graphics.library API with built-in RTG support as the original Amiga designers intended.
  • Access to the new composited video feature.
  • Extended memory which goes beyond the 4 GB memory barrier.
  • New Unicode functions for handling UCS-4 and UTF-8 sequences.
  • Next generation menu system in intuition.library via menuclass.
  • Improved dos.library API.
  • Extended and improved console.device API.

Additions and updates to the SDK itself include:

  • Updated standard tools like autodoc, CatComp and grep.
  • New FSTest and FSVPTool file system development tools.
  • Updated clib2 alternative C standard library.
  • MUI 4 SDK.
  • Massively updated and improved perl 5 install.
  • AutoDocViewer included.
  • Updated MiniGL SDK for 3D applications.

Full autodocs and includes are, as always, included in the SDK along with some example code to get you going. All other developer and user documentation is available on the AmigaOS Documentation Wiki where you can create your own ROM Kernel Reference Manuals utilizing the familiar interface used by the mighty Wikipedia. Best effort technical support for the SDK is also available via Hyperion's support forum.

This SDK will be the minimum required to attend the upcoming Amiga DevCon 2015 in Sacramento, California, USA. The Amiga DevCon will include tutorials on how to use the new menuclass, composited video, extended memory, new console.device and more. Keep an eye on the AmiWest blog for the latest Amiga DevCon information.

AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition ISO images for download

Brussels, May 14, 2015

We at Hyperion Entertainment CVBA are more than thrilled about the overwhelming success our customers made out of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition! Thank you!

Actually the success is so great, causing especially the supply of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition for Classic to dry up during the last weeks and some of your preferred dealers even ran out of stock already, which is of course unacceptable!

In order to remedy this drawback, Hyperion Entertainment CVBA commissioned the production of another batch of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition for Classic, which will be available to and from dealers before the end of May - yes, 2015 ;) So if you did not get a copy yet or want another one for your shelf, place your preorder at your favorite dealer now!

Good news for interested A3000 owners: of course we took advantage of this opportunity and fixed the Kicklayout to allow proper booting on A3000 machines without the need for a special bootdisk.

And also some good news for all existing AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition owners: with immediate effect the CD images of your registered AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition version(s) are available in the restricted download area. If not done already, please log in yourself and register your copies by entering the serial numbers in the registration form. We hope we eliminated in this way the fear of a broken CD some of you expressed.

In closing, thank you all again for making the huge success of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition possible in the first place! This is the best support you can give us for developing AmigaOS, so let's continue to stick together :-)

Updated BootFloppy for Amiga 3000 computers available

Brussels, December 24, 2014

Much to Hyperion Entertainments regret it was noticed that the bootfloppy originally shipped with AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition for Amiga 1200, 3000 and 4000 computers contains a defective KickLayout file, which makes it impossible to boot on an Amiga 3000 computer. In order to remedy this situation, registered customers of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition for classic Amiga computers may download an updated bootfloppy as ADF image from the download area.

Alternatively, experienced users may follow the manual instructions on the Hyperion support forum.

Hyperion Entertainment apologises for any inconvenience caused by this and wishes a merry christmas to all its customers!

AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Available Before the End of 2014

Brussels, October 27, 2014

Hyperion Entertainment is pleased to announce the imminent availability of "AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition" for all supported platforms.

AmigaOS 4.1 was released in September of 2008 and has seen no less than 6 free major updates and at least 88 smaller updates released through AmiUpdate.

New functionality in AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition includes but is not limited to:

  • Extended memory functionality (beneficial for all supported platforms even those platforms which cannot be equipped with more than 2GB)
  • Most powerful console for AmigaOS
  • New Intuition features
  • New Workbench features
  • Much improved DOS
  • New unified graphics library with RTG support which allows for (current and future) very substantial general and platform specific performance optimizations e.g. through the use of on-chip DMA engines (present on recently released hardware going back to the Sam440)
  • Updated Python port
  • Installation graphics, new icons and back-drops by Martin Merz
  • Countless minor updates, new other functionality and bug-fixes.

AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition requires NO previous version of AmigaOS 4.x and is a stand-alone product, quite possibly the most affordable version of AmigaOS ever to be released.

This now allows current users of AmigaOS 4.1 to install a complete original version of AmigaOS 4.1 without subsequently needing to download or apply 6 updates and countless minor updates.

Users are nevertheless recommended to register their copy of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition on the Hyperion Entertainment website as this will be required for downloading possible future updates and bug fixes.

An updated SDK for developers which exposes all new OS functionality to developers, is being worked on.

Hyperion Entertainment wishes to thank all those developers and contributors who have furthered AmigaOS development over the years and especially those that have worked tirelessly on delivering "AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition" to customers before the end of 2014.

Our thanks go out to all of our supporters and loyal customers who can rest assured that work on AmigaOS 4.2 is ongoing apace albeit somewhat behind schedule due to the fact that substantial time had to be allocated for supporting new upcoming exciting hardware platforms. We appreciate your support!

AmigaOS Final Edition has gone gold and is in production at this time.

Suggested retail price is 29,95 EUR (SRP includes German VAT, may vary depending on your location).
